500g mince ( lean if possible) you can do 1/2 pork and veal 1/2 beef too
1 large carrot 1 stalk of celery 1 onion ( optional for kids) 1/4 of small cabbage 1Packet beef 2 min noodles Curry powder (optional) Beef stock and cornflour (instant gravy mix works well to add flavor and thicken when in a hurry) Dice carrots and celery and fry to 1/3 cooked add mince and cook through...your vegies will be almost cooked now too. Add shredded cabbage and fry through turning quickly until it has collapesd..it only takes a few minutes. Crush dry noodles over the top of everything and add some hot wated ( not too much to start with) just a few splashes to create enough steam to soften the noodles in the frypan. Mix the dry noodles through the steamy meat mixture. Use this water to add the gravy mix into...it will thicken up the meal again and be ready to spoon over mashed potato or have on toast.Serve as soon as the noodles are soft..only a few minutes! Keep stirring so the bottom of the pan does not stick. ( it's like a stir fry once you start adding the ingredients, don't go away from the stove as it all happens quite quickly. You could even serve it in a lettuce cup, like "san choi bow" or you could put it in spring poll pastry and deep fry...yum! You can add bacon and curry powder to enhance the flavor if you like. The above recipe is just a base for you to work with, it is cheap and quick to make and it serves quite a few people, especially if you have it with potato. It is even better the next night as well.
